We work at the intersection of land justice, food security, and conservation.

Acres of Innovation

Sharing Our Roots envisions a world where food and agriculture systems are profitable for farmers, fair to workers, beneficial to consumer health, restorative for rural communities, and regenerative for the environment.

  • Commons Cohort

We provide long-term land access agreements for a cohort of farmers who organize themselves through shared community norms.

  • Community Connectors

We support 125 local families growing food in 7 community gardens in Northfield & Faribault.

  • Wildlife Counts

We monitor the return of wildlife to the SOR Farm after decades of conventional farming.

Sharing Our Roots Farm

On 100+ acres of previously degraded farmland in Dakota County, immigrant, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and emerging farmers & community gardeners work together to produce nourishing food and restore ecosystem health.

Land Access is Justice Work

Our mission is rooted in racial justice and requires intentionality, action, and accountability across all aspects of our work.

We believe our future, and the future of our planet, depends on our openness to sharing the best parts of ourselves and working cross-culturally and intergenerationally.

  • For two decades, we have worked alongside immigrant farmers to demonstrate a new way of farming in our region - one that respects the land and is rooted in community.

Join us in advancing this necessary work.
