11/11/08 - Main Street Project Awarded Two Media Justice Grants

Grants will be used to support Justice 2.0 project work

Main Street Project is pleased to announce that it has received grants from the Media Justice Fund of The Funding Exchange and from SpectrumTrust’s Multicultural Endowment of The Saint Paul Foundation for rural media justice outreach.

Grant funds will help Main Street Project's outreach to rural communities of color in Minnesota and Iowa to provide trainings and offer tools that fully utilize Web-based media to increase access, knowledge and empowerment.

"By creating and offering trainings on using Web 2.0 technologies — blogs, social networks and YouTube — we hope to help rural communities of color gain necessary skills to create messages that challenge the current anti-immigrant Web presence," said Amalia Anderson, Director of the Main Street Project.
